I was always interested in staying active. I played a variety of sports my entire life - and tried a little of everything including track, crew, wrestling, gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, basketball, kickboxing, and soccer. You name it, I've tried it!! In fact, all the activities that I was in, tended to overlap until I graduated from college.
I continued to play rugby and utilized a "typical" gym setting to try and stay fit. However, I quickly found that when I went to the gym, I didn't have a good plan - and never really enjoyed working out by myself. In 2014, while looking to fill the time with something else that would keep me fit between the rugby off-season, I found CrossFit. CrossFit added both the competitive aspect that I was craving, as well as the community. Then the 2015 CrossFit Open came, and I've been hooked ever since!
With CrossFit, there are always new goals, heavier weights, and more difficult movements to achieve, and always with the whole community supports you on your journey. CrossFit to me means no more boring days at a gym - instead, I get an hour of working on new skills, with great people. There are just so many things I want to practice and get better at, and I love the feeling of achieving those little "wins" after putting in all the hard work. As I continue to coach and train at CrossFit Eminence, my goal is to generally lift all the weights, and perhaps make it to the quarterfinals next year!
